Our Program

Program Overview

Children are very unique and we respect the different learning styles, interests and habits of each child. Our schedule allows for daily indoor and outdoor activities. We organize our time and classroom space so that each child has time for individual play as well as group activities. Our daily circle time consists of reading and sharing stories, music, songs, finger-plays and learning games. We may also include show n’ share and activities from our daily calendar.

Developing skills in a world of PLAY

Our class consists of children between the ages of 3 and 5. Working with this specific age group allows us to easily meet each individual child’s needs. We find the best learning comes through peer mentoring with our older children acting a role models for the younger children. We ask that all children be toilet trained.

The components within this domain address number sense and quantity; number relationships and operations; classification and patterning; measurement, comparison, and ordering; and geometry and spatial sense.

 Science

Children are curious and persistent explorers who use their senses to investigate, observe, and make sense of the world around them. The RIELDS science domain includes standards that address children’s learning of basic concepts in physical, earth/space and life science.

social-studies-01.png

Social studies learning supports children’s emerging understanding of social rules, and their ability to recognize and respect personal and collective responsibilities as necessary components for a fair and just society. In addition, social studies learning helps children to develop an awareness of the passage of time and diversity (History), and place (Geography).

creative-arts-02.png

The arts provide children with a vehicle and organizing framework to express ideas and feelings. Music, movement, drama, and visual arts stimulate children to use words, manipulate tools and media, and solve problems in ways that simultaneously convey meaning and are aesthetically pleasing. The component within this domain addresses a child’s willingness to experiment with and participate in the creative arts.

Using the RI Early Learning and Development Standards, as a guide for what I want the children to know and be able to do, it is with distinct purpose and intention that I set the children's day up for developmental play and exploration.

Children are curious learners. I give each child the guidance and direction they need to develop skills that are important to their future success. Children need to learn these skills within the context of their world...PLAY.
